My twenties were mostly marked by grief which was beyond my power to make it anything else. There was a crook in my lot, and who can make straight what he has made crooked? (Ecc. 7: 13-14) But looking back what comes to the surface even more than the sorrow is the unique and precious friendships of that decade.
